Default Opinions on Creative Gigaworks T20/40

Anyone have anything to say about them? I'm also interested in maudio's 2.0 sets. Looking for a new set that doesn't sound boomy, but more refined and balanced.

If money isn't an issue, the Razer Mako 2.1 THX speakers (that I happen to own) sound very sharp and also have nice deep bass. They're 300 watts.

I'm not really looking into "gaming" class speakers. Again, I want something more balanced, less boomy.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

I think I'm just going to give them a go, if I decide I don't like the sound I'll just sell them to a friend.

My friend has M-Audio and it sounds like ****. Just get some speakers with bass control and lower it all the way if the "boomyness" bothers you.

What set?

The problem is when you buy a 2.1 set, the manufacturer calibrates the set to be used with the sub woofer. Therefor instead of getting a balanced sound when turning down the thump, you get really messy sounding mids and highs and no lows (because the sub is turned down) and the music just sounds like garbage. When you buy a 2.0 set with smaller woofers built in the speakers are calibrated so that the mids and highs sound good because theyre actually clear enough to hear.

Also, I wasn't trying to be hostile towards you. I'm not arguing about this because I know what I want, I just wanted an opinion from someone that owns a pair of the speakers I'm interested in.

Well the Logitechs can be pretty bassy, but the price is right, and you can always turn down the sub ::

What's your budget? If you're looking for quality sound from pc speakers there's really only one way to go and that is genelec(6010A is the model you want - they're about 320$ each).

EDIT: You can also get a pair of 8020A's from amazon for 499$!

Let's not confuse boominess with simply too much bass. I know you know your stuff but some people here will think you can remove boominess by turning the sub down.
You really can't - the boominess is the result of inferior design, maybe a too steep crossover filter or the shape of the cabinet.

Some bass frequencies resonate making bass boomy and loud - but only some frequencies. Other bass frequencies remain barely audible.

Back to the initial post- I have GigaWorks T20s and they sound very good - and they are not boomy. This is the precise reason why I got them.
Sure Genelecs would be a better set

This is what I was looking for. Thank you very much. The Genelecs are more than I'm willing to spend right now.
