I have 7600GT PCI-X, and I had some X freezing issues with 180.22, which I didn't had with Beta versions of 180 driver. I can unfreez X by unpluging and pluging back in my USB keyboard. Then X unfreezes or restarts (don't know if this is because I pressed few times ctrl+alt+backspace before unplugging keyboard). Please nvidia devs, fix this.
![]() Edit: I'm using Ubuntu 8.10 with 2.6.28 x86_64 kernel that I compiled with Core2 optimization. |

Thanks for the info. I'd already worked out I can also stop that by setting IPP=1 or by turning off PixmapCache and GlyphCache. I would have compromised with that, but there's still issues with suspend and Powermizer.
Anyways, as I actually have more problems than in 177.82, I can't see any benefit (for me) in using 180.22 at all, and have decided to sit out this release. I guess the main reason I'm on 8.04 is that it's an LTS release with 18 months of 'support/updates' and I don't need to bother with the upgrade treadmill. The only thing I actually consider upgrading outside of that is the nVidia drivers. But, hey, that's just me and 180.22 is the best driver ever for some.... Cheers ws |

on my system, ubuntu 8.10 amd64 4gb 8600gt.
It is quite stable, but can somebody confirm, if the browsing/mouse scrolling with firefox at http://www.pconline.com.cn and http://music.sohu.com still laggy? I had tested the websites with firefox 3.0.5, 3.1b3, 3.2a, all the same, too laggy and choppy! thx |
