Maximizing Visuals in Crysis Games?

Ok, the 2 Crysis games are confusing to say the least when to comes to maximizing visuals. In particular I am referring to AA and AF.

AA: Do most people use Full Screen AA or the Edge Detect AA? I know FSAA doesn't help with the foliage jagginess but does the Edge Detect really clean up the sceen as well as FSAA for everything else besides foliage?



AF: Are most people playing with the POM textures enabled or without POM and instead using Anistropic Filtering? If what I have gathered is correct, enabling AF and POM simultaneoulsly does nothing because AF doesn't work right?

Can anybody clear these up for me definitievly in terms of what will look best?

2. You are right, AF doesn't work with POM so i'm playing without the POM (with 16xAF).I'm wondering why the CryEngine2 has that limitation

personally i would say FSAA is way better than edge AA... that just blurs the foliage and makes it look bad imo so i just keep it off... as for AF i just use POM so any texture that has POM on it wont have AF... thers a weird AF performance bug in crysis warhead so i just keep AF off... to use AA/AF in crysis on a 24" you really need triple sli GTX 280

You don't really need POM with those textures...

Eliminator, with a good DX9 config Crysis is very playable with AA at 1080p. You don't need Tri-SLI for that.
The first level is borderline playable on my system with the same res in DX10 VH with 4xAA, dips into the low 20s quite often.

well i was averaging 40fps or so at 1920x1200 in the first day level in crysis with my custom dx9 very high config... 4x AA would probably put it in the 20-30 range... i would need another GTX280 if anything
