Default Re: GTX 285 Peak at 183W

That about what my BFG GTX 280 OCX are clocked at 665/1458/2400,I imagine they are checking them GTX 280's at 602/1296/2214.I would imangine the load would be higher on the GTX 280's if they ran them at the same speed.

Too bad it's technology progression without too much additional speed... Again. I don't really care about 5C extra heat, or 30 of 40W extra load power.

The way its going now is just like last year: 8800GTX > 8800GTS > 9800GTX, 9800GTX+.

9800GTX+ is cheaper, more energy efficient, and cooler than a 8800GTX, but not (much) faster.

The GTX285 is not much faster than a GTX280 too... Sadly enough. Old tech, smaller process...

It's really time for something new imho. And something faster.

I hope the GT212 or GT300 will be out soon. I will be the first one to buy it. If its fast.

It was never designed to be much faster, just cheaper to manufacture for Nvidia and a nice byproduct is that it overclocks better, runs cooler, draws less power. Of course it's not a cost effective option for anyone with a 280, but for anyone else, it's a nice step-up.

That's true.
