The stats are just in and the new GTX 285 just peak at 183W and thats very good compared to the GTX 280 who peaked at 236W, so sign me up I will definetly go for an GTX 285 as my Corsair HX 520W will most likely handle both a 8800GT and the new GTX 285
To top it of my QE6600@ 3.4ghz and 4 Gb OCZ Reaper Ram wont be a problem for my Corsair PSU I guess ![]() |

The card consumes the same amount of energy as a GTX280...
SLi load usage is almost the same too... Its not so power efficient after all imho..

Wrong mate on Guru3d it says, Full 3D performance mode: varies - worst case TDP 183W for GTX 285!
And as we know the GTX 280 TDP is 236W and thats a BIG difference! http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforc...ew--3way-sli/3 |

Very interesting.
Did Nvidia "forget" in their TDP calculations that they would be running the card faster than the 280?

Loads watts is a total different thing, of course the cards mostly not peak but TDP peak is another thing and 183 vs 236W is a whole lot of difference!

Not true at all, but it seems everyone with a 280 wants people to believe that. It's ok, your 280's are still nice cards, just slightly inferior to the 285 now. It's the nature of technology progression.

Did it dawn on you that the 285 beats the 280 there in 2 out of 3 tests and this is taking into consideration that the 285 is clocked considerably higher than the 280 at stock clock speeds? If you were to clock the 280 to the same speed as the 285, the 285 would pull less power and run cooler doing it.
