As on the topic title... the kde4 graphic speed isn't good.
I started a kde3 on this same PC, there's a lot (lot) of difference in speed. Don't know what, but there's something very wrong. I'm running latest stable with a 9500gt ![]() |

Which KDE4-version do you use?
KDE4.1.4 and KDE4.2 RC1 has some great speed improvements included. KDE 4.2 RC1 with NVIDIA 180.22 works really fine here. Even when Composite is active, Firefox runs fullscreen at 2048x1152 and Smooth Scrolling is activated, everything runs smooth as butter. ![]() Ubuntu 9.04 Alpha3 (AMD64) NVIDIA 180.22 NVIDIA 9800GT KDE 4.2 RC1 Dennis |

I'm running latest stable kde4 repository on openSuSE 11.1 it's 4.1.3 I don't ever run RC versions... but that could be a good news.
I hope soon I'll have the good speed improvements even on the stable version... openSuSE 11.1 NVIDIA 180.22 NVIDIA 9500GT KDE 4.1.3 stable |

Funny.
I use OpenSuSE 11.1 at work and I tested kde 4.2RC1. Everything was smooth. But on my Gentoo at home it's glitchy and very crappy as soon as there is some CPU usage. Now I got an excellent computer at home, even better than the one at work. HOME -------------- Intel Q9450 8 GB RAM e-VGA GTX260 I have searched and not found anything. Tested with all kinds of configs. Even took the xorg.conf config from SuSE. The only difference is the video card which at work is a 8600GT. Now, could it be that the 8600GT is better supported than the GTX260? Also, compiz runs pretty well. So I don't know what's happening. |

The situation is very foggy... can't figure out which is the problem and it's everything so randomly
Anyway I'll wait the 4.1.4 stable in the repo they're still releasing 4.1.3 packages, maybe there's something not so stable ![]() |

And that doesn't sound good: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=127003
Anyway I'll try it when it'll be available in the opensuse stable repo. |
