Default Screen turns black when installing nvidia drivers

Hello!

So far I've never had any problem with installing Nvidia drivers. But with my new computer I had to study a lot of x11 and log.files I didn't know before....

But so far I couldn't solve the problem.

I'm using a ASRock ALiveXFire-eSata2 R3.0
AMD Athlon X2 2,7GHz
ASUS 8400 GS (graphics)
Ubuntu 8.10

I need the Nvidia drivers to get a TV-out function.

Without the Nvidia drivers the system runs well. But when I've installed the drivers via System >Hardware drivers, I don't get a signal to the monitor. Ubuntu starts but the the monitor turns black. So far I have tried to reinstall the system several times. No success! I learned to save the xorg.conf - file. So I didn't have to reinstall the system. I learned a bit to use terminal but with a very poor knowledge.

I've bought a new Graphics Card. No success.

I've changed the TFT monitor to a CRT monitor. No success.

I've studied a lot of internet-pages an studied hard. Nothing to find, that matched my needs. The strange thing is that the system worked fine with NVidia drivers with a Gigabyte Graphics card (also a 8400Gs, but no S-TV-out, that I need!).

So far I haven't found out how to save the Xorg.0.log file from the terminal. I used Nano but the was no hint for "SAVE AS". I compared the file to a similiar computer and I didn't find a bug in it.

The iommu-problem could I solve.

Do I have to buy another - better -motherboard? I really don't know what do do!

So far I've added the log-files when the Nvidia driver was installed.
