Question black screen after quitting X

hi all,

I've encountered a strange problem running nvidia drivers 177.x and 180.x on my acer aspire 7730 laptop. after quitting X and dropping back to the console, my screen turns dark (back light switches off). there is no lockup, blind typing "startx" or "reboot" still works. log file doesn't show much - unfortunately . log file attached. using the generic nv driver the problem does not appear!

any clues what to do?

best regards

Default Re: black screen after quitting X

There is a known problem switching back to a tty after X has started.
Some people can fix it with turning vblank on and off.

For me it was fixed when I added NVreg_UseVBios=0 to the nvidia module.
See http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...ight=blank+tty

And next time use forum seach. It may take time, but there is alot information already written here.
