Glitches with GeForce 8300 on 1080p

Hi,

I have HTPC based on mobo Asus M3N78-EM with integrated GeForce 8300. I run Kubuntu 7.10 with the latest nVidia drivers (180.22). The HTPC is connected to the TV via HDMI cable. Resolution is 1080p/60GHz. There are some glitches/freezings happened periodically during video playback (with both SD and HD). Even photos are showed with some small delay. In the mean time the processor is loaded on 30% maximum.

Any idea why it happens and how to sole that?

I've just bought the same main board (M3N78-EM) and I'm about to assemble a new HTPC, so I'm very interested in its prospects as a Linux-HTPC backbone.

I know this is of topic but I must ask, do you experience the same SATA problems as people in this thread?

Soon I'll get an AM2+ CPU and join you in a struggle to set up a trouble free Linux-HTPC.

I installed LinuxMCE. I had a problem with SATA but during installation only. I solved that by setting SATA mode to AHCI in the BIOS.

Regarding problem with glitches. I used GUI with alpha blending with supposed to work fine with nVidia. But by some reason it wasn't work. So, I disabled alpha blending and it solved that.
