Does the the big guns of Fallout 3 require or benefit from strength? I'm mostly using small arms and energy weapons right now and I'm planning on big guns later on. My strength grade is 6 and I'm planning on using a park to increase weight carrying.
I just finished a quest where I can choose between a strength or perception bonus, so I'll be waiting until I can an answer ![]()

No, strength only benefits melee weapons. Endurance imrpoves your Big Guns skill.

Ok thanks. I should perhaps read the manual because a lot of things isn't immediately clear from the introductionary level. However if I changed my mind and went back to pick the perception bonus instead I'd lose a couple of hours of playtime, so I think I'll just stick to the strength bonus. Even though 10 pounds carrying weight bonus is little in comparison to the massive 50-pound bonus I got from the Strong Back perk, a guess it's still nice to have, especially if you're someone like me who loves weapon gameplay variation so I always carry a ton of different weapons. So when you gather more and more permanent gear, the amount that 10 pounds constitues out of the total available "loot weight" increases. That's my logic at least, to convince myself I did the right thing

what is the best thing to spend money on? I've been saving for awhile like i always seem to do in these games in case there is something big I need to buy. But I'm now further in the game and haven't found a big reason to spend. I have plenty of ammo now so should I use money to repair my weapons and armor?

Yeah really thats all I do. I spend most of my money on repairs when I can't repair it on my own... that or buying things for my house... Ammo is plentiful in the game.. no need to buy it or stimpacks.

Not really, it hints with little rhymes and such, but doesn't really flat-out tell you. The SPECIAL section in the Pip-Boy does though, as does the manual.
Strength is for weight carrying and melee, which basically means it is almost useless... I think my main character has a strength of 3. The one you want to max early on is Intelligence, as you get more skill points from it.

That said, it's not like it's cheating to use it... Bethesda put it in there.

Definitely not cheating... and I deserve a character that is close to a cheater... I had to go through the dang game again because of the stupid Broken Steel DLC not installing properly for me and me not finding out until I finished the game lol.
I really enjoy the stealth outfit and the electric sword from Anchorage... I like sneaking up on people and vaporizing them. |
