Default DVI Support quadro fx2700m

Hi!

I have change my notebook from HP nw9440 (quadro FX1500m) to HP 8730w (quadro FX 2700m) and
I am using Ubuntu 8.10 (64 bit) with the original drivers from nvidia (180.22).

Unfortunately I can't get my dvi port on the dockingstation working any more.
The LCD monitor could not be recognized.

With the old quadro FX1500m (same dockingstation) it is working without any problems ... - the new
laptop with vista too.

If I use the previous xorg.conf from the FX 1500m it has no effect ... no dvi output

Can somebody give me a hint how to enable the dvi output with FX 2700m and 180.22?

Martin

If config files are needed please let me know ... I really need help here ..

I have the same config (HP8730w / 2700FX w/ Advanced Docking Station) and indeed the external display is not recognized via DVI in OpenSUSE 11.1.
However, if I connect it via the VGA connector, it gets recognized and the nVidia utility generates a xorg config. I haven't had time yet, but I plan to edit that file, as I suppose in this way I can make the system recognize the display when connected via DVI.

Hi!

Yes I can confirm that the card recognizes any vga connected monitors -
or
do you have connected a dvi-vga adapter on the dvi output and the adapter to the vga of the monitor?

However, as it is working with vista, and with the same driver on a fx 1500m on linux I hope that nivida is correcting the problem ...

I connected a a cable with a VGA end to the dock and a DVI end to the display.

I have found a possible solution:

A post in an ubuntu forum solved it that way:

He accuired the EDID (however that is correctly spelled) from the
dvi monitor with windows and configured the xorg.conf
manually to enable dvi with the extracted EDID data.
That was working with an 8730w - I test it and send you the
link tomorrow (i have the stuff on the laptop in my company)...
