Default Detected recommended resolution different between VGA & DVI on Quadro 177.x

I can only think that this is a bug in the NVIDIA driver. I have two HP L2245wg LCDs (1680x1050) running in TwinView mode (driver 173.14.12 & 173.14.15) off of a single Quadro NVS 55/280 PCI. When I use the DVI inputs, the driver will not allow me to choose 1680x1050 as a resolution and the max becomes 1600x1000. Running with VGA cables, the recommended resolution & refresh is chosen (shown directly on the LCD when inputs change). Bug reports & screenshots & logs for both the VGA & DVI connections. I have tried to force the modeline when in the DVI configuration but to no avail.

I have attached screenshots for the nvidia-settings app in both configs as well as bug reports & xorg logs for both configs as well as a xorg log for when I use the NV driver (with no config -aka auto config). I am on Fedora rawhide and don't have any other issues.

I keep the xorg config exactly the same between the different cabling configurations with only changing all references of CRT to DFP.

There is a large difference in reported pixel clock via VGA and DVI.
DVI:
(--) NVIDIA(0): Connected display device(s) on Quadro NVS 55/280 PCI at
(--) NVIDIA(0): PCI:7:9:0:
(--) NVIDIA(0): HP L2245w (DFP-0)

VGA:

This difference may or may not be true. I have used some LCD monitors in the past where VGA connection worked out of the box, but DVI did not.

Try adding this to the monitor section in xorg.conf:
Option "ModeValidation" "NoMaxPClkCheck,NoEdidMaxPClkCheck"

I had to add this to my MythTV box to get 1920x1080 to my TV via DVI->HDMI with an FX5500 card.

When I tried this with a FX5700 card to a LCD monitor at 1600x1200 via DVI I could see that the graphics card was not able to update the monitor fast enough. VGA was OK though.
