Default Godaddy + Vbulletin :(

Does anyone know wth is wrong? Ive uploaded the test script to my domain and ran it.

when I log in however I get this :

Does anyone know how to change permissions? Ive set the database up on godaddy as to be MySQL as 5.0.

Should I drop down to 4.1 or whatever?

Im the owner etc. I can log onto https://p3smysqladmin01.secureserver.../209/index.php but it all looks very complex

Any ideas?

something is wrong with your MySQL server (obviously lol).

check a couple things.

load a script with the following in it:
Code:
<?php
phpinfo;
?>
that will display your PHP version information, including PHP plugins. make sure MySQL is located somewhere in there (should have its own menu). if it is not in there, contact godaddy and let them know there is something wrong and either your MySQL server is not loaded, or the PHP extensions need to be reloaded.

BUT, based on the error there, it does find your MySQL server, but it says the authentication method is not supported.

what i think is happening is that vbulletin is trying to use the old PASSWORD() function in MySQL, and your MySQL version is using the new PASSWORD() function (they updated it between versions, dont ask why. my guess is security, i think it's a PITA).

do you have the newest version of vbulletin?

well, looks like i have your solution.

it seems that the problem is indeed the password function. what needs to be done is you need to update your user in MySQL with the OLD_PASSWORD() function. however, i dont think this can be done by you.

read this thread, it is the same as your problem:

Run mysql and login as root:
Code:

Code:
mysql -u root -p
Then, paste the following command, editing as necessary, to change the password of the user to the old format.
Code:

Code:
UPDATE mysql.user SET password=OLD_PASSWORD('somepassword') WHERE user='someuser' AND host='somehost';
After you have set the passwords to the old format, flush the tables.
Code:

Code:
flush privileges;
Then exit the mysql client with "quit".
i think you need to contact godaddy, because i am pretty sure you dont have the required permissions to perform the above operations, since they require root priveleges.

so, contact godaddy. sorry
