That sucks. You should have flashed it to 1.06v and then RMA'd it... it would never pass...

btw, I lowered the voltage again from 1.06 to 1.05, the lowest I can choose. It makes no difference to the final speeds that were achieved @ 1.06 volts. I didn't measure, but if the first 1.18 -> 1.12v saved 52 watts, and the second 1.12 -> 1.06v saved 40 watts, then another 0.01v is probably about 4-5 watts saved... it adds up. I didn't even take into account that I've had to lower the clocks to be stable...

My card that was returned actually works now? I installed those new 182.05 betas and for some reason I'm not getting any more artifacts in games. Those green big flashes seen in TRU are absent too, even if temps go 75-80C.

Well, I don't complain. At least I now have one driver that works like it should so if the glitches come back some day, I can always retest my card with 182.05.

I always write down the S/N of any parts RMA'd, and put a little dot on the item somewhere... Maybe they are just saving face by not admitting it, and sent you a replacement silently. Anyways, enjoy the hardware!! I'm 16 or 20% through the FC2 missions, no problems at all. It's nice when everything works...

BTW, they discontinued our part number for a while, then re-introduced it. Sounds weird, eh?

I double checked the S/N I had set up on EVGA member site, it matches this card. I also checked the bios and the checksum seems to be the original too (voltages/etc unchanged). They could have changed the sticker though, but I don't think that's the case.

I haven't been checking the EVGA site too often, but I've seen the SSC model there always when I have visited. When did this happen? I'll check the EVGA forums for any information too.

And yes, I love it too when the card actually works, really nice performance in all my games

It was removed from this announcement page about the time it disappeared from Newegg for a couple weeks:

http://www.evga.com/articles/00429/

In fact, that page doesn't even mention 55nm any longer, and all the part numbers changed...
It used to list 1255, 1257, 1258 -- now 1265, 1267, 1270.

Well they can easily be found on EVGA site under products/GT200 series and they have been there ever since I got my card so I don't think there's any particular peculiarity about it.

Also all the shops that sell EVGA products here have had the card in stock but that kinda depends on the country/shop.

I noticed some thread over at the EVGA forums where someone had RMA'd one of these SSC cards and obviously EVGA european customer service had said that there is some issue with some of the SSC cards, but the thread didn't reveal anything precisely.

Edit: In this thread

Huh.

Anyways, after finding out how much heat an i7 + 260 lays down, I don't even want a majorly overclocked 260 any longer. I'm even thinking to drop my moderate i7 overclock...

Now that you mentioned it, I was testing the GPU and the memory with OCCT while I noticed that the room my computer is in had slight change in the room temperature

What makes it worse, it's winter and cold unlike during summers (+5C to room temps).
