DICE's very own Gordon Van Dyke has personally addressed the PC community today regarding the recent developments surrounding Battlefield 1943. Here's what he had to say:

Dear PC Gamer(s),

I know you might feel disappointed about the PC release being in September rather than June, but you should be very happy to know this is to give us the proper development time to create a proper PC version of Battlefield 1943 and not a console port. To the contrary of some less informed fans out there this is in no means an intentional ploy to punish our PC fans. And is in fact quite the opposite, we want to make the best damn PC version we can for our PC fans!

Not to bore your eyes out with endless text about the how's and do's I will say to make this a proper PC version we need a completed core game to develop over and remember we already released Battlefield Bad Company with the Frostbite Engine on the consoles, so this will be first PC game ever released using Frostbite! PCs are an open platform requiring additional features, support, technical consideration, and can't just be thrown out there using copy/paste. We have thought very carefully about this decision and in the long run felt it was the right choice even though we knew we'd catch some flak for it, but we feel once you play the first Frostbite PC game ever from DICE you'll see why we put this extra time and care in on the development making all right again in the universe. I hope this helps clear things up better and answers your concern(s).
new trailer is out as well:

OK lets see,

In 3 months after they release the console version, they will release a buggy consolized version of 1943, then blame us for wanting to get it out on time so they cut things, had to rush development and how well is sold on the console instead of the PC, which they blame
on piracy.

Then there will be the PC support which they will put on the back burner because like mentioned above it sold a lot more (because they released it 3 months earlier on said platfrom) on consoles and they have to take care of their best customers.......

Did I miss anything?

FORTY-FIED MULTIPLAYER
EA hasn't yet made any announcements about the multiplayer side of the game. The only thing we know for certain is that 40 people will be able to duke it out on to servers when the sequel hits rather than Bad Company's previous player cap of 24. New game modes and plenty of maps a shoo-in however, that's what sequels are made for after all.

Maybe I'm missing something, but those screen shots do not look impressive to me.

that's because you're a graphics *****. Instead think about the scale of what's going on in combination with the awesome gameplay.....at least that's what should really matter.

Wouldn't hold your breath on this. All the time the reason for delay release on pc is for polish/etc, but its never polished -.-.

I saw the BF1943 video, god awful splash effects on the water, the smoke is really bad, dust it self is worse. Also it seems the lod is really short, u can see in the video barrels/etc just appearing right infront of u, they cut the video pretty fast on that but u can see it, ontop of that this is going to be a really small map, more closer to cod4 map size, which is fine, but battlefield was made for large scale ><.

Either way i can't wait for MW2

EA DICE need to quit ****ing around with this console/minigame ****e and get back to the BF2 formula, you know, the game that was overwhelmingly the most popular in the franchise.

Not even close there bud. However, I prefer my games not to look like they came out two years ago. But then again if the graphics were good they would have problems with 40 players online all at once. I hope they don't go to smaller maps as that is the biggest thing I hate about CoD4. Bigger maps where you have more placed to sneak around and flank the enemy would make that game a lot better.

Well when BF2 first came out, it looked pretty decent, i thought it looked good for its time, and most hardware can run it back then too, so i would assume based on that, the same should apply to bf3 or w/e the heck the next bf is called i see two here...
