Default My new GTX295 and GTAV

i had a SSC 280 before the step up to the GTX295

the performance in GTAIV seems much worse with slow downs, im pretty gutted

the 280 seemed smoother and didnt have slow downs

Crysis warhead and others seem ok, so its very odd why GTAIV has slow down

any solutions?

Can you switch from (implied) SLI mode to single-GPU mode on your 295?

I get major stuttering in GTA4 (and i didn't have any with my 8800GTX). Anyway i'm bottlenecked in this game from my DualCore so i pretty much don't care about GTA4. Other games work great so who cares

I was reading about that somewhere else.... one of the main reasons I went with the 285 over the 295. Not that it helps, but GTA IV runs amazing now. Although if I max it out, while it runs smooth... I will crash after like an hour with some stupid "Out of Video Memory" error... lol. So I had to cut back some distance and shadows

I made this mistake too once.

Last gen had a great OC'ing 8800GTX then I decided ohhh a 9800 GX2 looks good in reviews... buy it. So I sold my GTX. The 9800GX2 was garbage. Some games had slow downs and pausing from the dual card in so many games but the Framerate avg was actually higher.

Sold that and bought another 8800 GTX. Sure the performance was a bit lower but the gaming experience was 400x better.

Lesson learned. I dont care how good the dual cards look on paper or reviews. They suck. Gameplay is never as good as with a single GPU.

Looks like you learned that lesson too, the hard way.

Try single card mode GTAIV hates SLI.

Try disabling "Capture Video" in the game options. That seems to have fixed all my crashing problems *knock on wood*. I can also max everything out again without getting that damn video memory error
