Default Im going crazy!! GTX 295 or wait...?

You know is that common problem....should I go for what is the best now or wait for something that will bring newer technologies??

My problems are Windows 7 and DX11, in my country a GTX 295 is really expensive, due to extra taxes, so i dont want to buy something that would make me regreat in some months..

So, should I wait some more and get something closer to a DX11 or should I just buy it anyway?

Thanks in advance.

If you get a 295, you will be set for a while. If you have the money, go for it.

The GTX 295 is the best card out there and will be for a while. No matter when you buy, there will always be something better around the corner. That's just the way it is with computer technology. The GTX 3xx is due some time this year. You can rest assured that the GTX 295 will be Nvidia's best offering for at least the next six months. When the GeForce 9800 GX2 was released a year ago, it was only the best card for no more than three months. That will NOT be the case with the GTX 295. I don't see Nvidia releasing a better card until September/October at the earliest. Get the GTX 295 and enjoy the best video card for the next 8-8 months!

It depends on what resolution you play at, and what games you like to play. Obviously something better is always on the horizon.

If you are waiting for W7 & DX11, then you must wait for the GT300 at the end of 2009.

Meanwhile, the GTX295 is a nice DX10 performer, and the GT212 will be a DX10 product too.

If you can't wait, get the GTX295 now.

If you can wait 6 months, get the GT212, but, you may regret 6 months after getting it, because the GT300 will be the card to get this year.

What about buying a used 8800, and wait till the end of the year? The more money i can save the better =P
Thing is that the PC I have here its with a FX 5600XT and its very old, I want a graphic card to play at high settings, and I know the GTX 295 its all that, I don't want to run games on low/medium for a good time.
One last thing...NVIDIA's next top graphic card will be probably single GPU, so I imagine its not coming for U$500 right? At what price range you guys think it will come?

Thanks for helping

I think buying a used GTX 280 is the best solution right now. GTX 295 / dual card solutions always have issues, micro stutter, low minimum FPS. This has been seen by a few reviews already. Also, you have to deal with profiles for them. IMO the dual cards are just too much of a hassle to deal with. A GTX 285 is a bit overpriced when a GTX 280 is very close in performance but selling for alot less $$$ used.

I'd say grab a GTX 280 and enjoy that until DX11 matures and we see some games that actually use it. Thats your best bang for the buck option right now.

I haven't noticed micro-stutter with the 295, but I agree with mailman that the 280 is GREAT bang for the buck, if you can get one for about $300.

Moving from your current card, you will be amazed.

Valid point. That's why I didn't pick one up.

Here's a used GTX 280 for $270. ($250 was a mis-type. Dang!)

I'd say buy it now and enjoy it. DX11 might end up like DX10, a pretty big bust. I think Far Cry 2 is the only game I prefer to play in DX10.
