If you're experiencing this problem, please generate and attach nvidia-bug-report.log files (see http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=46678). Please also attach the /proc/$PID/maps file for an affected copy of glxgears. Which distributions and kernel versions are being used? I see a lot of mentions of Fedora 10, are there others?

My tests were conducted with this version of glxgears:
http://cvsweb.xfree86.org/cvsweb/*ch...ears.c?rev=1.3

My kernel version is
Linux 2.6.29-0.54.rc7.git3.fc10.x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Fedora 10

I've attached a copy of the "maps" file and nvidia-bug-report while 32-bit glxgears was using 1.3G of Ram.
Attached Files
File Type: txt maps.txt (3.9 KB, 108 views)
File Type: bz2 nvidia-bug-report.log.tar.bz2 (33.1 KB, 97 views)

I just tried the very same program with the xorg "nv" driver. 32 bit glxgears does not have that problem there. it stays at around 300-400kb ram usage.

I use Fedora: 2.6.27.19-170.2.35.fc10.x86_64

Attachment 1: the nvidia bug report after the run of 32bit glxgears.
Attachment 2: the maps file for 32bit glxgears after it reaches the 4GB.

There is at least one Gentoo user ( see http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/show...2&postcount=27 )

Also note: This happens ONLY with my 8800GTS, with a 6600 all is fine. The only thing which was changed was the graphic card.

I am also a gento user, but the issue does not seems to be linked to the distribution nor the kernel since I tried live cd as well.

I will post a proper bug report with the nvidia-bug-report.log file when I am back home.

It's nice to see things are moving

Arch user here.

Attached files. The maps file was too big to attach without compression :P

EDIT: Also, this still doesn't work in 185.13 (which is what I used to generate these)

I can attach maps files from other apps (wine et al) if you need it, though I think you won't.

And the problem *STILL* exists in 180.41 as well.

It looks like this problem only occurs with Geforce 8800 chipsets. Can anyone confirm the leak on other chipsets?

Yes happens on GTX 285 (GT200), it seems that it happens on anything >= G80

I was experiencing this leak with a GTX 260 using every driver version I could get my hands on up to 180.37
since switching to 185.13 the leaktest.c code doesn't seems to show a leak. had it running for over an hour.

after testing in actual games, the leak seems to still be there...

kernel: gentoo-2.6.27-r8
Phenom II 940
4GB DDR2 @ 1066MHz
GTX 260 216 core 896MB
