im also enjoying this game. i'm on the second interval now, but i seem to be lost at the moment the game runs great, even on my dated machine.

1600x1200 4xAA 8xAF max settings. usually stays locked at my refresh rate of 75. ive seen it dip to 50 fps for a low. not bad at all. wish more games where coded this well! im liking it way more than the original ...

Just finished it. Great game but the ending was kind of "meh". Loved the level design, the mech/mounted guns sequences didn't get boring or frustrating, the AI although not as good as in FEAR1 was quite good (the last levels have a lot of enemies... it should have been this way from the beginning IMO ) and generally speaking it's a very good game.

Yes it has its flaws and it's not as brilliant as FEAR1. Frankly speaking, FEAR2 is some steps backwards for Monolith (given the fact that they gave us NOLF, Blood and FEAR) but there are worse games out there. Short but fun and now we'll have to wait for the dedicated servers (i can't believe that Monolith screwed the MP part by not providing dedicated servers)

FEAR concentrated on particle effects and shadows, but their base level design was crap. FEAR 2 has much better level design and art design... the shadows look great if you don't inspect them like in that video, and on the whole the game looks much more impressive.
I think I agree with you on a level here. When comparing side by side, I think Fear 2 looks slightly better, there are certain areas that look a lot worse. Like the shadows, and the parallax mapping, firefights, etc.

The FPS show that it is limited on a technical level too, I get over 200FPS at 4x/16x, something that I would have never expected out of FEAR2.

Solve what? The fact the game doesn't have dynamic shadows on everything is not an accident.

The game looks awesome as it is, and I thought all those heavy black shadows in the first one really sucked. I much, much prefer the new style. It actually looks natural, unlike the first one.

Yeah, looking at the videos again the hard black shadows in the first one was to much. Looks unnatural. If they had been toned down it would have looked much better.

I checked their forum, there was 2 or so threads about the lack of shadows in Fear2 but no official response.

How do you get 200fps in the game stays at my refresh rate of 60 even with vsync disabled through driver control panel.

At first the HUD was weird, but I got used to it when I realized the character you play is wearing some sort of visor/glasses thing. The grainy effect was weird at first too, but I also got used to it quickly.

The environment is cool and the colors are better than the original. AI seems better and I've noticed some pretty funny things. For instance...that name on some of the wine bottles, you have to check it out. Also the bad guys say some funny stuff when you go SlowMo on them and charge them.

Overall the game is great!
I liked the visor/glasses, especially that scene where your character puts them on and they boot up and stuff. What bugged me about them, however, was the NO ONE else in the squad wears them, only you. You'd think everyone would have a pair lol.

Loved the game, already replaying it to find the documents and boosters I missed and also because it's just plain fun. Even had some fun with multiplayer but I think i'll be playing the singleplayer more.

Not sure, mine go well above 60FPS, do you have VSync disabled in the game options too? I get an average of like 250FPS, lol
