I think the main reason is the rising cost of game development these days, to make a blockbuster game it costs millions, to risk that on only the PC market is a gamble. Compared to about 10 years ago when a complete game could be made by a small team.
Its sad, but a reality, unless guys like Sweeney can figure out a way to make game development easier and cheaper, most games will continue to made on the lowest common system, then slight enhancements for each version.

This is the time in a consoles "re"cycle that we are suppose to start seeing innovation take over for technical wowie zowie.....seen it yet?

games looks better and are much more advanced which resoult in much longer\harder (like a ****) :P production.
Best example GTAIV. Thousands of employee and milions of $$$ |

Yeah, they can. They can use 4Gb of ram. Take out 1Gb for the videocard and 700 megs or whatever that is reserved for other devices and you've only got 2.3Gb, which is typically considered 2Gb for roundness purposes.
