Well I guess this build is totally stable, my system's been clocked at 3.2 (effectively 3.36 w/ turbo) since the day I built it and I haven't had a single problem with it. What an awesome processor. I didn't even mess with my voltages, I bet it could get even higher, but I don't need it to be any faster anyway.

yeah it is on the large size, the asus square before it on the x38 i thought was huge..

this one is very light though and the 120mm side fans are optional extras

I'm still working on stability....I'm almost there

I have a feeling this CPU has more in it....gonna lap it tomorrow.

You other guys pushing 80+c through these are crazy if you ask me. I've been out of the game for awhile and am catching up, but unless I'm missing something, Max TDP on these appears to be 67.9c.

Thank's...I switched over to air, I have a True Black now...W/C was getting to be a pain in the ass. I'll probably back the chip down to 4.2 for every day use.

Thats not max TDP, which is measured in watts. That is tcase max, which is not the core temperature, it is the temperature at the center of the IHS

Can anyone tell me how to start overclocking my 920? My MB is a DFI LANPARTY JR X58-T3H6. I have read a lot of forums and sites on how to do it but they are mostly for a different socket type. When I do find a "how to" on the I7 I try it and my CPU speed never changes.

This is all I want to do for now.

#1 Find out how to do a very slight OC maybe from 2.66 to 2.70 with the stock fan.

#2 Experiment a little with OC'ing till I start to figure out what i'm doing.

#3 Get a good cooler so I can OC to 3.0GHz (after I'm comfortable in my abilities)

Your help is appreciated!

^^^You will be able to do 3GHz with a stock HS and voltage.... you picked one hell of a board for someone thats new to OCing.

I would just up your CPU Host Frequency to 144 and then adjust your Ram divider as close as possible to its rated speed.
You will have to run a 2:10 divider, that will give you 1443 on your Ram, then set your Uncore to 20x2886.
If you run a higher divider you will be OCing your Ram....you could always try tighter timings.

Another option would be to lower your multiplier to 20 and run 20x150 which gives you 3Ghz and the ram will be running at 1503.
with a divider of 2:10.. set your uncore to 3006. Your will be turning Turbo Mode off...I personally think that TM is just gimmick as it only
raises the multi on one of the cores.
You should be able to do this by leaving most if not all of your voltages on auto. If theres an instability at all, try upping the vcore and VTT until its stable
Dont forget to to set your memory voltage to 1.65

But first of all, I would clear your Cmos.. especially if your board is not saving your settings.
