If you want a BIG improvement in performance and improvement in visual quality (due to less "noise") then I'd suggest first enabling your dev console via changing a line in the init config file in your game data (program files/1c, etc or the Steam equivalent) and change,

d.consoleh = 0

to

d.consoleh = 1

Next,

Press the ~ key to open the console, and type in

r.parallax 0 (it will autofill, so type in the autofilled command if what I just typed isn't the full command :P )

This will disable the parallax mapping of the little tiled ice texture on the wall, throughout the game, etc. Basically, someone went crazy, throwing parallax on everything but it doesn't really add anything. The poly count on the objects is a bit lower than needs to be, as the transform costs are minimal compared to the fillrate being bogged down. All in all, it's a fun game, and now only $12 and change on Steam.

Just grabbed this game - Wish I had bought it sooner.

I really liked it as well. some "puzzles" are quite challenging.

I absolutely am. Thank you Mr slaWter.

This game runs fantastic for me. I thought I was in the low 30's, upper 20s fps, Fraps shows 35fps upwards of 45-50 at times. I'll have to get some better screens than what I have.

This game is a blast though. Very different from anything I'm accustomed to. Reminds me more of Penumbra with fantastic graphics than anything else.

I meant the bad guys are killing me.

Game play - not a single crash yet, and just finished the 'fear' levels. Actually, not one single glitch of any kind yet other than alt-tabbing to change Fraps settings. I'll be stuck with a black screen trying to alt-tab back in.

Running sm3.0, no AA (Looks horrid in screenshots, not so much in game) AF on, textures high, spec medium. reasonably smooth with rare dips into the high 20s.

Very enjoyable, very unique experience so far.

EDIT: Reminds me very much of what a really tweaked "Cold Fear" could have been. Lot of similarities, and that was an under rated game itself.

Gotcha - been very lucky so far. I was expecting a few bugs due to some of what I've read, been pleasantly surprised.

Haven't found the super soaker yet, but the PPSH-41 and the Mosin-nagin(sp?) have been handling them pretty easily. It's just getting used to the aiming characteristics of the game.

Very cool so far.

oh, i was talking bout the water cannon, dont know if you have it, since i think not all versions of the game come with it, and you find it generally early in the game.
while not often, the game has made me jump a couple times

Nope, haven't seen a water cannon yet. I want it. LOl, sounds like a fun weapon.

And yeah, I jumped to already, along with a few WT----s

I'm having trouble getting hardware physx to work correctly. I don't know if anyone has any tips. The Cryostasis techdemo worked fine. I could see my physx gpu was being utilized. But in the full game it's not being used at all and the framerate is bad. And apparently the copy is already patched, so it should work (got it free through EVGA/digital river download).
