I don't pretend to know much about what these vehicles can take, but I was impressed and it REALLY made me (and everyone I know who was playing at the time) take serious care with their driving. I loved it. And I can totally agree, GRID is exceptionally forgiving. You can have your entire front end inverted with the engine sticking in the ****pit, rear bumper flailing off and doors smashed to hell and back but still win a race with ease.

I actually think the game looks good (I like Grid btw) and I'm really looking forward to it.

Need for Speed High Stakes was such a good game. This reminds of it a little. Except with different cars and way better graphics.
Although those gameplay videos are a bit depressing.

Yeah the game looks really fast, so I guess without a replay function like Grid all the playtesters were constantly crashing and dying at the first sharp corner in every map so they made the damage very light. I hope there's a difficulty setting which makes damage more punishing because that did look a little silly when he crashed at high speed twice and didn't suffer any real damage.
Actually I think the best way to balance the difficulty would simply be to have a replay function like Grid, because that really solves the problem novices and even skilled players have as well when they crash and die in the last 10 seconds of the race and have to restart an event that later in the game might be 6 or more laps long. That's the sort of stuff that makes many players shut the game off in frustration. I don't think making damage on cars so light it almost looks stupid is the right way, especially since they're trying to make it more realistic. |

They have 20 members of the old Simbin team on board with this NFS shift project. If any of you have played GTR or GTR2 you will know that you can go from a fully unassisted Simulation to a fully assisted arcade game where the car practically drives itself. I just hope theres something similar with shift as it would be a shame to see these guys talents going to waste with a on rails arcade racer.
