is there an "easy" mode where you don't have to hunt them? maybe like a pen full of them that you can just shoot?

This game, I believed, is trying to target actual hunters. Much like FSX is not for everybody, neither is this game.

Remember you can hold the space bar to "hold breath" while looking through the scope to make it a bit more stable, and of course crouching or going prone stabilizes it even more.

Shouldn't take more than 15-25 minutes. First rule, never run, even when you crouch you are faster than a deer that doesn't know you are out there. Camping and luring with the deer caller is a very effective method, more than the tracking/stalking one although I find that one more "ethnical" since the deer caller is sort of cheating since the hunter is basically faking to be a deer.

The GPS/animal tracker is very powerful, it shows you where a deer call came from, you can save "trails" into it by left click and it will provide you with the general direction where the deer was heading to and once you enter three trails it precises these "clues" even more and from then on its all about getting the deer into the sights and kill it.

If you don't have much time to stalk/follow a deer, and you just heard a deer call, you can see the location of it on your GPS, simply turn into that direction and do one long deer call and the deer will head towards you as long as the wind direction isn't heading towards the deer as well (can't be checked with a default/free account). You can ignore wind direction if you camp on a high stand, the deer can't smell you up there.

im enjoying the game just for the walking in the woods, its pretty and pretty realistic. i havent seen a polygon deer yet but not too bothered as its just nice strolling with the realism.

i still think real life hunting is pretty nasty

the game makes me freak out a little i keep thinking some monster is gonna scare me from behind or run at me from infront (like oblivion and Stalker)

Hmm I tried "shift" but that didn't work. Some of the controls are FPS like, but others are different.
