As I said, VDPAU worked with an ancient driver installed the same way as the newest. And more important, NVidia has already acknowledged the bug.

post this comands results:
Code:
nvidia-settings -g | head -n 25
lsmod | grep -i nvidia
lspci | grep -i vga
find /lib -iregex '.*nvidia.*' -type f -print
find /usr/lib -iregex '.*nvidia.*' -type f -print
or better attach the nvidia-bug-report.log
Yeah, I am aware of that, but I suppose, when I have 185.13 driver version installed, VDPAU is installed too and should work.
Link to this file is already in my first post, just a link, becase the forum said, that it is big enough, some limitations about .log size. (And I do not know, why is better to compress it and upload it again).

it might be incompatibility with Xorg 1.6.0 - Ubuntu 8.10 with 1.5.2 and Ubuntu 9.04 Aplha5 with 1.5.99 work's fine...
it might be a kernel too - 2.6.27 and 2.6.28 work's also fine...

Yes, we already have a bug filed for this specific issue. Sorry it's taking so long to get fixed.
