Default checking GPU load under LINUX

I'm interested in the prefhud software Nvidia offers for use under Windows in a CLI interface for LINUX. I really only want to see a load meter for the GPU like htop or top provides for the CPU. Is there anything out there that does this?

FINALLY! There is a util provided in the nVidia drivers for Linux called nvidia-smi which can do this:

Code:
$ nvidia-smi -a

==============NVSMI LOG==============

Timestamp            : Sat Oct 23 10:39:53 2010

Driver Version            : 260.19.12

GPU 0:
    Product Name : GeForce 8400 GS
    PCI Device/Vendor ID    : 6e410de
    PCI Location ID        : 0:1:0
    Display            : Connected
    Temperature        : 41 C
    Utilization
        GPU            : 0%
        Memory        : 8%
Here is my attempt to have a bash script that will output the key data. Invoke it with the watch command if you want to see it update rather than a snapshot in time.

Code:
#!/bin/bash
gpu=`nvidia-smi -a | grep GPU | tail -n+2 | awk '/:/{print $NF}'`
mem=`nvidia-smi -a | grep Memory |  awk '/:/{print $NF}'`
temp=`nvidia-smi -a | grep Temp | cut -c17-18`
echo "GPU load: "${gpu}
echo "VRAM use: "${mem}
echo "GPU temp: "${temp}"C"
For example, name the script "gpu" and:

Code:
$ watch /path/to/gpu
GPU load: 0%
VRAM use: 8%
GPU temp: 40C

Neat. How do you get it to report the Utilization part? Doesn't show on my FX880M with 256.53 drivers?!

Dunno.. the -a switch gave it. Perhaps your board doesn't support it?

I made a little script that uses alltray (alltray package in Debian& co), nvidia-smi and sensors - launching it i get an icon in the tray that opens/closes a terminal with the watch command running for sensors+nvidia-smi+cpu speed(grepped from /proc/cpuinfo)

Code:
#!/bin/bash

alltray -i /usr/share/app-install/icons/xfce-sensors.png --show --sticky  'gnome-terminal --profile=sensors --title=SENSORS --geometry=63x34 -e "watch -n2 cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep Hz ; sensors ; nvidia-smi -a"'
The red stuff might not exist on your computer - the first is the icon that will be shown in the tray, the second is a customized gnome-terminal profile (gray background, feels like a panel on my computer).

Updated to 260.19.21, and now it's working for me as well.
