Cannot save resolution
My problem is that after reboot my screen resolution reverts to the old value (1024*768) from my preferred value (1366*768). I don't know how to make it stick!
I change the resolution in NVIDIA X Server Settings, click Apply and the resolution changes to the correct value, but when I select 'Save to X Configuration File' I get this msg: 'Unable to remove old X config backup file '/etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup'.'. At the next reboot of the system the resolution is back to 1024*768.
GeForce 9200M GS, nvidida driver 180.29
OpenSUSE 11.1 w gnome + compiz

Re: Cannot save resolution
I suspect you just need to run nvidia-settings as root, or save the config file somewhere else and copy it over /etc/X11/xorg.conf as root.
