Really enjoying this browser. Just a question.

I disabled the command bar, but going to View>Toolbars>Command bar doesn't allow me to reselect it, nor does rt clicking anywhere on any of the toolbars give any options. Any ideas how to re-enable this>

TIA!

I know many companies wher admins explicitly prohibit even IE7 installations (via Windows Update or standalone), as their intranet apps were tested years ago for IE6, and they are too lazy to make them work under IE7 (should be very little work), IE8 or any other browser for that matter.

There are also people with Windows 2000 who cannot install IE7 and later, as it is not available.

I am afraid IE6 will not dissapear quickly

Nothing wrong with hoping though. I have an XP virtual machine with IE6 on it for that reason though. Should upgrade my Work PC's IE to 8 and pray I won't need 7 for anything.

Yeah, I have an old PC my son uses and it's good for his needs but I can't put IE7 on it because it's Windows 2000. It's kind of a pain. You can't do Media Player 10 (or 11?) either.

I use VMs for Linux and Solaris, for IE5/6/7 testing there is an easier (and free) solution - IETester:

And now also SuperPreview directly from Microsoft:

just put it on a 2nd machine and it is seriously fast even on a laptop. It definitely beats out FF in terms of speed.

Funny fact: no addons in IE8, these addons in FF:

Is it smarter to remove the RC build before installing this or just go over the top?

I would think remove the RC then go with the full.

Firefox crashes like mad. And this is why:

https://wiki.mozilla.org/QA:Talkback:Metrics

Big advantage of IE8 is that very common crash or freeze of Flash and/or QuickTime plugin in one tab will NOT influence your work in other tabs. E.g. long article you are writing in CMS will not be lost :-)

Firefox 3.0 is quite an obsolete browser, based on copying (and improving a bit) IE6 behaviour and UI. But IE8 is in a whole different league.
