If you look at his sig he uses vista 64, which one would lead to think that an app being slightly memory hungry doesn't really matter because there is plenty of memory to go around anyways. Its the people who are running 32 bit Windows who that is more of a legitimate complaint for. I know memory usage is a bit of an issue for me because of all the stuff I have open all the time on my work machine.

Yeah, Dam nvnews for trying to get revenue from its ads to support the hosting.

MikeC should get a way to block access to the site if someone is using an ad blocker.

With 16GB of RAM I prefer stability over slightly higher RAM usage. I can buy more RAM (if needed), but I cannot "buy" stability. IE8 gives me that.

then you should append your statements about IE8 to be more opinion in nature and less factual. Things taking more memory at the cost of being more stable, is a good thing when you have the memory space to burn. Not everyone has that.

2GB is more then plenty of RAM available. I don't think anyone will be running crysis as they are web browsing and if they are they have the RAM to do such multitasking.

Was thinking more of my work laptop, that eating 70% of the systems' 3.5 GB of ram with dev aps open without trying. On my game pc memory use is not an issue.

I web browse on my work machine all the time and it has only 2GB of ram. I'm usually editing documents, spreadsheets, have outlook running and looking at pdf documents. Never have an issue with ram...

Heck my gaming laptop only has 3GB and I often leave the browser open (not actively browsing though) when i jump into a game...

in IE8 all you have to do is highlight a word, then right click and you can search it, translate it, or have a map of an address popup in no time. Its a great time saver

Or you can use the MX Revolution from Logitech and do many of those things with one click on pretty much any operating system and browser
