So, in this quite useless poll DE is missing... you're not even saying which is the DE that you're using... Gnome, Kde, Xcfe etc ?
XFCE, FVWM, TWM -- the same result.

VERY UNSTABLE !
Hardware
AMD Turion64X2 TL-52
Chipset: nForce2
Asus A6Tc(Laptop)
RAM: 1G
Video: GeForce Go 7300( 512Mb onboard )
All binaries compiled under amd64 architecture.

Driver: 180.22, 180.27, 180.29, 180.37, 180.41, 180.44 all unstable.
Kernel: 2.6.27, 2.6.28.8 with SMP enabled -> unstable
distro: Gentoo
xorg-server: 1.5.3

the same config with SMP disabled -> Rock Solid !!
BTW, I don't think this is a buggy BIOS ACPI issue.(That cannot explain why it is stable when SMP is disabled)
Before it crashes, screen blinks several times, and generate Xid errors in dmesg, Xorg.0.log record "NVIDIA(0): Initialized GPU GART". And then in random secs or mins(<10mins), it crash the kernel(ping is not reachable, I think the kernel had crashed), and freeze the screen. I had to turn off power manually and suffer fscks after I boot the system again.
Oh, I tried 177.80, 177.82. They are stable than 180.*, but suddenly crash after about 3-4 hrs of use. So, It it just "more stable than 180.*".

Stable, and since 180.44 even without nasty 30 second hang on X restart.

Distribution: Gentoo Linux
Kernel: 2.6.28-tuxonice-r8 #1 SMP x86_64
CPU: x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7500 @ 2.20GHz
GPU: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Quadro NVS 140M (rev a1)
Driver: NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 180.44
GCC: 4.1.2
Xorg-X11: 1.6.0

Working:
2D (fast), 3D (fast), S3 (suspend to ram), S4 (suspend to disk/hibernate), powermizer (kept on highest level when on AC via script), internal display (EDID is misdetected and therefore resolutions are missing, fixed via xorg.conf) and external displays.

Xorg.conf:
Quite regular, besides

Option "UseEdidFreqs" "false"

and

Option "BackingStore" "True"
Option "TripleBuffer" "True"

which you should _not_ use below xorg 1.6.0, there it leads reproducible to crashes.
