I am having a small problem with the 8600m GT card in my laptop, which runs Kubuntu 9.04 Jaunty x64. Some of the 3D applications I use on my computer exhibit "micro-stuttering" every 2-3 seconds. I use vsync for all my applications, so this is particularly annoying when it occurs. However, some other 3D applications are perfectly smooth, as expected.
Applications that are jerky: Tremulous Sauerbraten glxgears Applications that are smooth: gltron supertuxkart Counter-Strike 1.6 (in WINE) Screensavers (all that I have tried) bzflag My laptop specs: Dell Vostro 1500 Intel C2D T7250 2.0gHz 4.0GB 667mHz RAM nVidia 8600m GT 256MB dedicated, 512mb TurboCache I have experienced this problem with every driver from 180.06 to 185.13, and with the 2.6.27, 2.6.28, and 2.6.29 kernels. I also experienced it with Kubuntu Intrepid before I upgraded to Jaunty. Does anyone have any idea might be causing this? |
