Default Poor performance w/ 8800 GTX in Fedora 10

Hi all,

I'm having pretty bad performance with my 8800 GTX in Fedora 10 x86_64. I seem to get between 1/2 to 3/4 of the FPS I'd get on Ubuntu in 3d, and 2d is absolutely terrible. Compiz looks like a slideshow when I switch desktops (just using the "desktop wall" plugin I think it is).

I've tried with drivers packaged by RPM Fusion as well as NVidia's .run. I believe these were both version 180.29. I've also tried fresh xorg.confs created by livna-config-display and nvidia-xconfig. Is anyone else having this issue?

I would have thought it was a hardware problem, but I dual boot with Vista and the performance is awesome there.

My work box has an 8400 GS and it gets better 2d performance than my 8800 GTX at home. =(

Any ideas?
