Exclamation BUG: EDID misdetection my Lenovo ThinkPad T61p

Hi all,

I've decided to give my question a try here.

I own a Lenovo ThinkPad T61p (Type: 6460-D8G) with a Nvidia Quadro FX570M. Whenever I run startx the nvidia driver doesn't detect my EDID properly, which greatly reduces the number of available resolutions to choose from. After having searched for various solutions and having posted a workaround myself, I still haven't had an answer related to the problem. At first I thought it was a laptop specific problem, but now I'm starting to doubt myself. As a temporary workaround I created a custom EDID which does give me the custom resolutions, but I don't see this as a permanent solution, seeing that things in the nvidia driver might that could cause the custom EDID to be unusable.

Things I've tried so far:
Updating to the latest BIOS version: no result
Booting different kernels: no result
Trying different drivers (including the latest 180.x series): no result

The LCD panel being used on my Lenovo ThinkPad T61p is a: LP154WU1

/var/log/Xorg.0.log gives me the following information:
Code:
WW) NVIDIA(0): The EDID for LEN (DFP-0) contradicts itself: mode "1920x1200"
(WW) NVIDIA(0): is specified in the EDID; however, the EDID's valid

Update: Okay, I've tried using the open source 2D nv driver and this does give me access to the 800x600 and 1024x768 resolutions, so this is definitely a bug in the nvidia driver. Please fix it!

*Bump*

When updating xorg-server to version 1.5 or 1.6 the issue also seems to occur with the nv driver...can anybody help me to permanently solve this bug?
