Um try reinstalling? I don't even think you need to input the key ever... atleast I never did.

See that pile of text in the top left corner of the cd key window? I bet it's there.
Obviously something is screwy with your install of Steam. Either uninstall and reinstall it or ask their tech support.

I'd remove steam then install a fresh.

Not the same issue as yours but Steam stoled my Counter-Strike CDKey a couple years ago too. Was right after one of their overhauls of Steam and apparently it got lost in the process. Pissed me off too because I was CS'ing like a fiend.

See if it will still launch without it Nekro. If not you can view it in the settings at any time, I don't remember how and I am not at my steam install right now.
