When I bought HL2 GOTY 2nd hand you could scan the key and e-mail it to Steam but no longer.

I always wondered why people expect full privileges while buying used games. "but I paid money for it, it should work!" If most people bought used games or waited for it to hit the bargain bin then the games would not get made anymore since there would be barely any profit. Might as well pirate it then and save them the trouble of pressing too many copies.

this won't work. they'll ask for a picture/fax of the original receipt as well (proof of purchase and that it isn't a friends game).

most used game stores know enough not to sell steam games (l4f, fear 2, DoW2, etc). i'm calling

on this one

Even if i posted a pic of the game you wouldnt believe me so not much point in wasting my time.

Ill find a way of making it work on my own.

My 2nd hand HL2 got me started on Steam, Since then they've had a fair penny from my pocket so no great loss for them.
