Doesn't the number 8 signify good fortune in China? Which begs the questions, why not 888.8 GB? But 4 8s together probably signifies death or something. There has to be some sort of cultural symbolism at work here.

That's the only thing I could think of.

Let's do some quick calculations.

*Jeopardy Theme*

808.8 * 1billion = 808800000000 bytes

808800000000 bytes divided by 1024, not once, not twice, but thrice (KB, MB, GB).

Gives us 753.25 gigabytes.

Why? Is there something special about it other than the strange size?

EDIT:
http://vr-zone.com/forums/421047/wes...y-with-8-.html

Its just a marketing thing for a dual 500Gb platter drive. Pretty sad that you're losing 191.2Gb for a lucky number though...

I mean for being different, you might always find a nut later on tha will want it for some reason.

Looking at chinesse population, there might be a lot of nuts out there.

True.

Anyways, this should be a pretty quick drive, even if its a Green Power. I didn't know WD had 500Gb platters yet.
