X won't start - Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 440 (nvidia96xx driver)
This is a bug report by the way!
I'm using the 220.127.116.11-desktop-3mnb kernel and dkms-nvidia96xx-96.43.11-5mdv2009.1.i586.rpm Nvidia driver on Mandriva cooker. It seems that X won't start because of two errors (now reduced to one) "freetype module missing".
I have tried to install the driver from nvidia's site but still the error remains and the X won't start.
The only work-around is using the 'nopat' kernel option at boot. As I have googled around I've noticed that it's a problem between the *29 kernel and the nvidia driver.
This bug was also reported on the mandriva's bugzilla and the guys over tried to fix it but after that they've told me that the problem is in the nvidia driver and they can't fix it.
Is there or will be any fix to this?
I've attached below the Xorg log and others if it helps!
P.S.: It seems that the GeForce 2 family is also affected!
