I don't see an option to attach files to a PM, so here is the app. Just run "bunzip2" on it.
Attached Files
File Type: bz2 vdpdump.bz2 (5.8 KB, 74 views)

No problem, will do. Sorry to say it won't be for a few hours when I get home from work, though. Thanks again for the continued support.

Here's the information you requested. Ouput1 and Xorg1 are from your steps 3-7 (i.e. with the Sax2 Dual Head confg) and Output2 and Xorg2 are from 8-12 (with DFP-0 ignored).

I put them on my webserver so that we wouldn't have to bother tar'ing untar'ing, etc...

OK. Those log files (unfortunately I suppose) contain exactly what I'd expect.

Note that GL_SYNC_DISPLAY_DEVICE won't affect VDPAU. I just wanted to confirm that you tried looking at both screens when trying the VDPAU_NVIDIA_SYNC_DISPLAY_DEVICE=DFP-0/1 settings.

Finally, you mentioned that the tear lines moves down the screen. Does it always move smoothly (at a constant rate) down the screen, then flip back to the top, and keep looping, or is it randomly jumping all over the place. Are you running any other graphics-intensive applications alongside the VDPAU app?

Thanks. Sorry this isn't a quick and simple fix!

No need to apologize... I'm just glad to not be stranded, heh.

The line always moves steadily/smoothly down the screen but it is doesn't usually loop back up top and come back down again right away. It is inconsistent and way more likely when things are moving around quickly.

Not running anything else at the same time in these cases.

I just tried adding two underscores to the beginning of that variable you gave me, making it:

Code:
export __VDPAU_NVIDIA_SYNC_DISPLAY_DEVICE=DFP-1
...for no other reason than that I saw others documented that way and figured it couldn't hurt to try. I didn't actually expect it to help, but... well, I think it did.

I am trying parts of a few videos that ALWAYS show the tear and it's not happening (and this is with the Sax2 Dual Head config and Composite enabled).

Does this make sense? Am I just losing my mind? lol

Well, I spent some time watching stuff on the PC to test and it's definitely not happening anymore. Maybe those underscores are supposed to be there and I just never knew? Ignorance is my defense!

Man, I don't know how to explain it dude... If I unset the variable the lines come back. :-P

Basically, I put the following into my .profile:

Code:
export VDPAU_NVIDIA_SYNC_DISPLAY_DEVICE=DFP-1
export __VDPAU_NVIDIA_SYNC_DISPLAY_DEVICE=DFP-1
export GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK=1
export __GL_SYNC_TO_VBLANK=1
export GL_SYNC_DISPLAY_DEVICE=DFP-1
export __GL_SYNC_DISPLAY_DEVICE=DFP-1
And that's when it started working... now, right this minute, if I comment out the second line (the one that shouldn't work) and relog, the tearing comes back. Uncomment it again, relog, tearing is gone.

That makes absolutely no sense...

Can you do the following, once with that line enabled, and once commented out:

1) Reboot
2) Run MPlayer, validate that tearing/not matches whether the line is commented
3) From a terminal, run:
ps auxwwe|grep -i mplayer

And paste the output from (3) in both cases. Thanks. Make sure the environment dump doesn't include any sensitive information.

Stephen,

Hope you don't mind... I PM'd you links to the outputs. Nothing super personal, but some name type info.
