Wow, I'm surprised how much those old PPU cards help in a new game like this.

He was using a 9800GT as the PhysX board.

Whoops...

Reading FTW. I just saw "PPU" and assumed it was an Ageia card.

My performance is spotty... sometimes smooth, but then the fps will drop out of nowhere. Meh. The water is cool tho.

I think the water would look better if it was "smoother".

When the game is running at a rare 60fps but the water effects are stuttering along at 20fps then it just looks out of place.

Hopefully there is some sort of tweak for this in the future when we have GPU power to spare.

Eh. Keeps crashing on me. The same texture error posted before. I hope it's patched and playable soon. The gameplay seems great. Especially the same game system. Nice to play something fresh.

Shader 3.0 vs 4.0

Check out the difference. The effect under 3.0 is very simplistic, no dynamic water luminosity, and what the screenshot doesn't show is the awesome effect of water flooding the floor. Under 3.0 the floor is totally dry. This is with the retail game and a 9600GT for PhysX. So far PhysX on the 260 produces identical performance to PhysX on the 9600. I may not have found the most PhysX intense scenes yet, but so far there's no gain from it. I hope the patch changes that. It seems the PhysX stuff needs to be cranked up as there seems to be headroom.

If I run at 1280x960 with filtering off and the rest turned up I stay in the 30-40fps range, never dropping below 30fps. If I turn on filtering it will dip to 25fps.

The screenshot doesn't do the effect justice since the water is transparent and you can't see it, but at least you can see there is really no effect at all under DX9. The lighting is different becuase is changes in the room, only the effect was noticably different between shaders.

Shader 3.0(DX9)

Shader 4.0(DX10)

Yeah, thats pretty obvious. If they were presented in a silky smooth 60 fps with fluid animations i would understand him, but in this case with stuttering muscles and laggy genital physics im not so sure.....

With these settings -

My fps are minimum 16, max 40 according to fraps.

What seems really odd is that my fps don't appear to be affected by res or AA. I get the same fps @1280x1024 as I do 1680x1050, and in game AA on or off, is still no difference. But even when in the 40fps range it's still very choppy.

Good looking game though.

Using vista 64 ult, sp2 rtm, HD4870 and E8500 @3.8.

I'm tempted to try my old 7800GT as a PPU, there are mixed feedback on the web whether or not this will work.
