I-7 920 Temp?
What is a normal temp for a I-7 920?
I'm getting about 37 Celsius on idle. i was wondering if that is a normal temp. Thanks!

It is dependent on the ambient temperature too and the relative humidity.
For me the min is around 30C with a max of 65C and a variation of 5-10C.

Nope its still stock. The max temperature I got was from running Prime95 for 4+ hours on a Sunday afternoon when the room temperature was around 90F (32C).
I am giving myself a month to observe my system before I overclock the memory and the cpu on my system. My threshold for overclocking is 75C under full load.

The only time i saw my surface temp goto 75c was when i overclocked to 4.2 and ran Prime. At that point my cores were touching 90c so i backed off.
At 3.6Ghz it idle's at 26c average and loads at 60c with prime after a few hours. Under normal use like gaming and video encoding its usually around 40c. Thats with the TRUE120 HSF installed. I have seen some folk running there i7 920's at 4.0Ghz with similar temps as i get at 3.6Ghz. |

according to intel 80c is safe .It can go up to 100c before it is consider unsafe.so if you run it in the mid 70's c you will be fine .It not like a core2 duo.
