My system is Intel Core2Duo on 945GC chipset running 9.04 Jaunty. I have a NVIDIA 9500 GT card with dual DVI ports, it came with a DVI-to-HDMI adapter and also a SPIDF jumper cable. Well, audio over HDMI works just fine under Windows XP, but I cannot get it to work in Linux at all. I have tried the latest nvidia proprietary drivers, I have tried compiling new nvidia properity drivers, and I have tried compiling the newest ALSA. None of these have helped. aplay -l still doesn't show nvidia or hdmi, nor am I able to get the SPIDF audio to simply "play through" to the nvidia card.
The really odd part? I tried swapping my nvidia card for an ATI Radeon HD4550, compiled the ATI proprietary drivers, and the HDMI audio worked perfectly on the first try. So I know this -should- be possible with nvidia!! I really want to stick with nvidia, so please help me figure out what I need to do in order to enable HDMI audio on the nvidia geforce 9500 GT card. Thank you in advance! |
