Pass through Tosslink on onboard or Offboard?

Getting a decent card for one of the bedroom systems to offset teh audio.

What would do better the optical off the Auzitech or onboard reacltek?

I hear that it wouldn't make any difference since its digital but wouldn't it sound better using the optical on the Xfi prelude vs realtek digital audio?

The only difference is if you use some equalizer settings (realtek doesn't offer a full equalizer)/ambiet room settings - otherwise you heard correct, which is why I'm using onboard.

I don't really see a big reason to blow bucks on an audio board that will suck up a slot anyway and i have a highend yamaha reciever that does the rest.
