Is it possible to setup xorg to use the nvidia proprietary driver for 3d only, and the nv driver for 2d only?
The reason I ask is I installed ubuntu (I've tryed 8.10 and 9) on an old computer with a geforce mx 200, and the nv driver has slow 3d, but fast 2d, whereas the nvidia driver has fast 3d but horribly slow 2d. Since having a responsive desktop is my first priority, Im using the nv driver exclusively right now. Any suggestions? |

Alright, that's too bad. Thanks though.
I have one final question then. Anyone have any settings or anything that they could recommend that might speed up the 96 series driver (latest one)? |

In most situations drivers already set proper default settings and you can hardly improve anything ... except overclocking ![]() |
