Default New Monitor won't hold resolution on restart?

I just replaced my old CRT with a new Samsung 2343 wide screen 2048x1152. I have it connected via analog to my GeForce 6600. I can set the resolution to 2048x1152 via the Nvidia control panel and everything works fine. However, every time I restart, it comes up at 1400x1050. Curiously, this is the resolution I was previously running on the CRT.

I've saved the xorg.conf after changing to 2048x1152. I've even tried saving the edid and specifying it as a custom edid.

How can I make it hold and start at 2048x1152?

Red face Re: New Monitor won't hold resolution on restart?

Mea Culpa

It turned out to be an interaction with the Fedora screen resolution preferences.
