Default 3D Realms gone?

http://kotaku.com/5243277/is-duke-nu...-gone-for-good

We heard from an anonymous tipster earlier today of 3D Realms demise, with Shacknews reporting the very same thing, citing a "very reliable source" close to the Duke Nukem dev.

We've reached out to staffers at 3D Realms for clarification.
Take this lightly but man would that suck.

I seriously doubt this is truly another Ion Storm case. George and company are smarter than this. Least I hope so.

Phone calls and e-mails to various 3D Realms veterans have thus far gone unanswered, with 3D Realms publishing partner Take-Two and Apogee partner Deep Silver likewise unavailable for comment.

Apogee Software and Deep Silver have issued a statement to Shacknews, confirming that there is a "situation at 3D Realms" but stressing they are not affected.

And? Not the first time a company was active and then went silently into the night. Oh and it's not like they were really active, George just made a post on his twitter account at the beginning of the year, we are still mainly in the dark in regards to the game.

3D Realms is a joke honestly, If they went under the game industry wouldn't really lose anything. Another company would buy their IPs and actually release games.

Update 2: Duke Nukem Forever publisher Take-Two confirmed to Shacknews that it was not funding the 3D Realms project.

"We can confirm that our relationship with 3D Realms for Duke Nukem Forever was a publishing arrangement, which did not include ongoing funds for development of the title," said Take-Two VP of communications Alan Lewis in a prepared statement.

"In addition, Take-Two continues to retain the publishing rights to Duke Nukem Forever," he added.
