Default how do you specify the primary screen using twinview

i have twinview running and i'm using a DFP and a CRT. the CRT is always the primary screen and the DFP is always detected as the secondary screen.

even when i swap the connectors round on the video card, the primary screen is still the CRT.

how do i specify the CRT as the primary screen ? i'm guessing it'll be an option in XF86Config somewhere, but i can't figure out where.

There's no way to switch the primary screen on Linux.

so my primary screen will always be my crt ? why is this ?

basically, i just want to control where my toolbar/panel appears under gnome, and it always appears on my crt screen (no matter which connector it's plugged into on the graphics card).

it appears the gnome panel appears on the primary monitor, and not the secondary monitor.

any ideas how i can do this ?

cheers

ah, to get the gnome panel on the screen i want it on i simply drag it across! doh, i feel quite daft about that.

however, the question is still valid, because the logon box still appears on (what i consider to be) the wrong screen. any ideas on how to change that would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

If you use gdm and xinerama you can set the head on which the logon-box should apear:

in /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf:

# Xinerama screen we use to display the greeter on. Not for true
# multihead, currently only works for Xinerama.
XineramaScreen=1
