Geforce FX5200 Ultra performance

Well, first of, this is not really a problem, rather an odd thing.

I recently purchased a Leadtek Winfast A340 (thats a FX 5200 Ultra) and are very pleased with it so far.

Yesterday i tested "glxgears" and came up with some performance results:

14891 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2978.200 FPS
16307 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3261.400 FPS
16311 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3262.200 FPS
16308 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3261.600 FPS
16323 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3264.600 FPS
16292 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3258.400 FPS
16321 frames in 5.0 seconds = 3264.200 FPS

It seemes all ok, but then i tested my old computer wich is a 700 mhz machine with an old Creative Geforce 256 DDR that is about three/four years old.

The results were very close to my brand new, spiffy AMD 2600+ with an Asus A7N8X motherboard with 1GB DDR memory at 333mhz and the FX5200 Ultra card with 128MB memory.

10095 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2019.000 FPS
8556 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1711.200 FPS
8751 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1750.200 FPS
8808 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1761.600 FPS
9830 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1966.000 FPS
9058 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1811.600 FPS
8965 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1793.000 FPS

Is the FX5200 Ultra no better than this?

Is there any way to increase performance of my FX5200 Ultra?

Have anyone anything to say at all?

Really don't use Glxgears to compare performance with new cards and other systems. Performance in glxgears depends on lots of things (color depth ....). It is unreliable for example because it doesn't use texturing. Even a pc without a 3d card but with a very fast cpu can get a "good" score. Glxgears is a nice tool to get an indication if 3d acceleration is working or not.

Really experiment with Quake3, Wolfenstein ET, UT2003 or other real games. Performance of the FX5200Ultra will be a LOT better.

Thunderbird is right, glxgears is not much more than a glx testing app.
My system scores about 4000fps, and your system should score better (see my specs below).
And I had about 1000fps using a Number9 RevolutionIV 1600SW, and this card is pretty ancient - it never reached more than 4fps in Maya, with only a single cube displayed...
