Help Can only get X/Gnome after CTRL+ALT+F1 then CTRL+ALT+F7

Hi

After installing the nvidia rivers on UBUNTU Jaunty I can only get to my X/Gnome after boot by pressing ALT+CTRL+F1 followed by ALT+CTRL+F7.

It then takes quite some time after logging in, then the driver seems to work perfectly.

My wife currently prefers UBUNTU (v/s Vista), but I have to re-install default drivers to keep the status quo. Otherwise I fear this problem will only drive her to Vista.

So you can understand how desperate I am.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
