Not going to post the result for the same video cards as many have posted earlier.
But a new one here, a good old 8600GT with 256MB of RAM Code:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8200 @ 2.66GHz NVIDIA GPU GeForce 8600 GT (G84) at PCI:1:0:0 (GPU-0) VDPAU API version : 0 VDPAU implementation : NVIDIA VDPAU Driver Shared Library 185.18.14 Wed May 27 01:54:36 PDT 2009 SURFACE GET BITS: 842.043 M/s SURFACE PUT BITS: 900.724 M/s MPEG DECODING (1920x1080): 77 frames/s MPEG DECODING (1280x720): 152 frames/s H264 DECODING (1920x1080): 43 frames/s H264 DECODING (1280x720): 93 frames/s VC1 DECODING (1440x1080): 122 frames/s MIXER WEAVE (1920x1080): 474 frames/s MIXER BOB (1920x1080): 834 fields/s MIXER TEMPORAL (1920x1080): 175 fields/s MIXER TEMPORAL + SKIP_CHROMA (1920x1080): 235 fields/s MIXER TEMPORAL_SPATIAL (1920x1080): 69 fields/s MIXER TEMPORAL_SPATIAL + SKIP_CHROMA (1920x1080): 77 fields/s MIXER TEMPORAL_SPATIAL (720x576 video to 1920x1080 display): 263 fields/s The other thing interesting, this 8600GT can't do full VC-1 decoding, but the 9400IGP can, yet. The 8600 can do much faster decoding of VC1 than the 9400IGP... The drivers + processor do a much better job there. Jean-Yves |

This now makes me doubt the report provided by this test tool. In my direct experience, a 8400gs is not fast enough for Temporal Spatial 2X (Advanced 2X in mythtv), not even for SD material... That's tested on mpeg2 , 50Hz interlaced material |

Well, i've underclocked my 9500gt (from 550Mhz to 137
to get same perfs than a 8400gs:Code:
MIXER WEAVE (1920x1080): 272 frames/s MIXER BOB (1920x1080): 368 fields/s MIXER TEMPORAL (1920x1080): 85 fields/s MIXER TEMPORAL + SKIP_CHROMA (1920x1080): 117 fields/s MIXER TEMPORAL_SPATIAL (1920x1080): 25 fields/s MIXER TEMPORAL_SPATIAL + SKIP_CHROMA (1920x1080): 27 fields/s MIXER TEMPORAL_SPATIAL (720x576 video to 1920x1080 display): 96 fields/s I could eventually plug my 8400gs and check but AFAIR it worked. So could it be a problem with your particular card ? |

Thank for this very useful tool.
One note, to build the tool you need of course (i didn't figured out at first) to put inside the complie folder a "vdpau" one containing the vdpau headers files. Here's my findings: Code:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6550 @ 2.33GHz NVIDIA GPU GeForce 8400 GS (G86) at PCI:1:0:0 (GPU-0) VDPAU API version : 0 VDPAU implementation : NVIDIA VDPAU Driver Shared Library 185.18.14 Wed May 27 03:09:54 PDT 2009 SURFACE GET BITS: 1023.31 M/s SURFACE PUT BITS: 642.267 M/s MPEG DECODING (1920x1080): 77 frames/s MPEG DECODING (1280x720): 156 frames/s H264 DECODING (1920x1080): 44 frames/s H264 DECODING (1280x720): 92 frames/s VC1 DECODING (1440x1080): 121 frames/s MIXER WEAVE (1920x1080): 255 frames/s MIXER BOB (1920x1080): 431 fields/s MIXER TEMPORAL (1920x1080): 85 fields/s MIXER TEMPORAL + SKIP_CHROMA (1920x1080): 117 fields/s MIXER TEMPORAL_SPATIAL (1920x1080): 31 fields/s MIXER TEMPORAL_SPATIAL + SKIP_CHROMA (1920x1080): 35 fields/s MIXER TEMPORAL_SPATIAL (720x576 video to 1920x1080 display): 124 fields/s rob |

No, that shouldn't be necesarry if the nvidia driver is correctly installed.
