Funny that this card gives me better result de-interlacing wise than a 9400 or 9500GT ...

The other thing interesting, this 8600GT can't do full VC-1 decoding, but the 9400IGP can, yet. The 8600 can do much faster decoding of VC1 than the 9400IGP... The drivers + processor do a much better job there.

This now makes me doubt the report provided by this test tool.
In my direct experience, a 8400gs is not fast enough for Temporal Spatial 2X (Advanced 2X in mythtv), not even for SD material...
That's tested on mpeg2 , 50Hz interlaced material

Well, i've underclocked my 9500gt (from 550Mhz to 137

to get same perfs than a 8400gs:

And temporal_spatial_2X works nicely with 720x576 mpeg2 displayed on a 1680x1050 screen

I could eventually plug my 8400gs and check but AFAIR it worked.

So could it be a problem with your particular card ?

PAL SDTV uses about 3% CPU, GPU temp stays around 60°C. No vdr HD source available at the moment.

One note, to build the tool you need of course (i didn't figured out at first) to put inside the complie folder a "vdpau" one containing the vdpau headers files.

No, that shouldn't be necesarry if the nvidia driver is correctly installed.

Currently I have 185.18.14 from jya's repository; i wasn't able to build whithot that folder.
Maybe i forgot some *-dev package?

yes, that was the reason... nvidia-185-libvdpau-dev was needed
