Also tested on mpeg2 50 Hz interlaced material. I guess GPU clock speed and memory clock speed can make a difference? If your GPU wouldn't support vdpau, you would see no results at all.
This means that vdp_get_information_string returns the string "Unknown" ![]() Since 185.18.14, nvidia's vdpau driver returns a more usefull string ![]() |

I did some testing with different CPU/GPU/shader clocks. You can find my results here: http://pastebin.com/f1cac7547
I appended the clockspeeds to the CPU/GPU lines. For the GPU clocks, it is (GPU clock/shader clock) |

I saw You are changed GPU/shaders independently - not concurrently. As GPU is doing decoding and shaders are deinterlacing - You should modify both by the same percentage. For further investigation, may You check with nvidia-settings tool for 2Dengine/3Dengine clocks after setting overclocking in BIOS. I believe we should see increased clocks. In my case I don't see any change. This leads me to conclusion that my Gigabyte has BIOS bug. Also I'm wonder - are You able to change 2D/3D clocks via nvidia-settings utility ? I'm not able (see link in my replay to Your post about overclocking) br |

I did a little unscientific testing as well. Since my understanding of this stuff is rudimentary at best, I basically zoomed the GPU clock up until it was unstable to see where that would happen, didn't mess with the shader clock too much and didn't touch the video ram speed at all. Here is my first swipe at seeing what it would do:

So I understand nvidia-settigs is correctly reflecting Your clock changes made in mobo BIOS ? I'm asking as GIGABYTE tries to convenience me that nvidia-settings isn't reliable enough to report BIOS bugs and I have to use GPU-Z under Windows... Your case might be prove that my issue is result of GIGABYTE BIOS bug, not nvidia-settings error, bug or missuse. br |

Using gentoo-amd64 KDE4 with compositing on and Anti-aliasing set to enhance maximum.
What would be good/bad numbers? Code:

The following error occured: Can't create vdp device : Unsupported GPU?
What could be problem? Kubuntu beta 9.10 x64, nvidia 180.60, Asus laptop with 8400M G. Packages nvidia-180-libvdpau and nvidia-180-libvdpau-dev installed. |
